Hey guys im not sure if this has been handled in the past by another post but i was hoping to find out as much about the Bitter Lies and the major players associated with it ie: who they are, who formed them [kwanchi right?] what there purpose is etc. much thanks. 

No problem, just understand that what I'm about to give you is the cliffnotes version.  You'll have to do some looking up yourself.

KNOWN PERSONALITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE DOJO OF BITTER LIES

Bayushi Tangen (Creator of Technique and philosophy)

Bayushi Kwanchai (Founder of dojo, first and only student of Tangen)

Bayushi Hisako (Wife of Kwanchai, now senior Sensei at the dojo)

Bayushi Sharaku (also a Dream Sect Kolat)

Bayushi Ryouya (student under Hisako's regime)

The story of the dojo goes like this: this guy, Tangen, who had more guts than brains, accidentally invented a Technique that took advantage of his stupendous luck.  He tried to die a valiant death in combat many times -- and failed every time.  When his clan was banished to the Burning Sands, it at last dawned on him that he was not a great and terrible warrior, but a guy who was really, really lucky.  When he came back to Rokugan, he hid from everyone else and probably wrote some extremely emo poetry.  Another incredibly lucky guy, Kwanchai, seeks Tangen out and begs to be taught the techniques.  Tangen refuses.  Kwanchai pleads.  Eventually, Tangen relents.  Kwanchai comes back from his training the incredibly lucky juggernaut of calamities that his sensei was, and unlike his sensei, doesn't feel remorse, and agrees to begin teaching students the instant he can.  Yojiro, recognizing opportunity, funds this mad endeavor and creates the Dojo of Bitter Lies.  Kwanchai is married to Hisako, and equally lucky but much more sane bushi, and they begin training lots of 'madmen,' rounding out the collection of clans that have a group of arguably insane guys working for them (Crab - berserkers, Crane - harriers, Dragon - ise zumi, Lion - Deathseekers, Phoenix - Ishiken, Unicorn - Moto).

I would like to add that Tangen created the tech intentionally and taught many students Kwanchai was his last not first. Unfortunatly the other students did not have Tangens luck and did not last long. In the end Kwanchai did show sadness that he lived while many of his students died. 

 I would also pointout that the students of the bitter lies are the Spring patrol of the clan. Why is this important?because it's during the early spring that the troops and bandits can begin to move after the terrible rokugani winter and thus the time of the year in which is more likely to a scout patrol to die miserably wihtout reporting back. That is not truth when we talk about the Bitter lies, who for some reason ...not die xD.

Also Sharaku was the Master Dream, the master of the sect most interested in the human potential. Also the sensei of the school MUST take care of the students, who in most case are mentally unstable xD

I thought Dream sect was interested in Mind = weapon.  Where is it confirmed that Sharaku was a Kolat Master, and not just an agent?

The absolute BEST story about tangen and the bitter lies was in some newer book, it told about how he fought a guerilla war against the senpet who were holding the scorpion as slaves, going agianst forces many times his size and winning via lucky breaks,  Finally the senpet commander caught up with him, and ANOTHER lucky break decimated his forces, He threw down his sword in disgust and proclaimed "Ill be beaten by cunning, Ill be beaten by strength or skill, but if im to be defeated by pure dumb luck, may the gods strike me down now"

He was then promptly struck by lightning and killed.
